Each baby admitted to our Special Care Nursery (SCN) receives individualized care based on their medical needs. Newborns
can be admitted to the SCN by request of the physician for observation or because of risk factors associated with
prematurity, low birth weight, twin and triplet births, oxygen therapy, tube feeding or other special care needs.
Your baby's doctor and the nursery staff will keep you informed of your baby's progress. They'll answer any questions
you have and you can be assured that your baby is in the best hands possible.
The 10-bed, Level II, Special Care Nursery (SCN) at Kettering Medical Center boasts state-of-the-art equipment and
specially trained staff to provide a high level of quality care. Our Neonatologists (Special care baby physicians)
are available 24-hours a day and our nurses are neonatal advanced life support certified. These skilled SCN nurses
are present during all high risk deliveries and are accompanied by a respiratory therapist and neonatal physician,
when needed.
