Precious Beginnings Special Care Nursery Offers Free On-Line Baby
Cam – A Dayton First
You are living in California, and your daughter gives birth to your very first
grandchild -- three weeks before you were planning on flying out to be with her.
Now, while you work on moving that flight time up, what is going to make you feel
better today?
The answer, of course, is viewing of baby’s first expressions and movements, and
KMC is delivering this gift free of charge. It is the first system of its kind in
the Greater Dayton area, and it is expected to be a big hit with new parents,
friends and grandparents alike. “It is our gift to parents who choose our
hospital,” said Marsha Leonard, Clinical Nurse Manager for the Special Care
Nursery. “Some babies aren’t going to be able to go home right away, and it is so
important for the parents to share these special moments with families who already
love this little one.”
Kettering Baby Cam is available year-round for all 10 beds in the Special Care
Nursery. Mothers who wish to utilize the system can simply request a user name and
password for their baby. They can then control who sees the baby by controlling
who gets the web address and the key words.
“When someone you care about has a baby, you want to see it right away,” said
Miriam Cartmell, Director of Women’s Services. “It is especially important to be
able to look in on the baby when there are health challenges early in life, and we
are so pleased to be able to offer this added comfort for our patients and their
families.”
