Welcome to Precious Beginnings Home Care!

Congratulations on your upcoming birth experience! We know nothing compares to the special joy parents feel when they welcome a new child into the world!

Birth is nothing short of a miracle and we believe families deserve special attention through this experience.

Precious Beginnings Home Care is a service designed to meet this need.

The Precious Beginnings Home Care Program offers a safe and convenient alternative to extended hospital maternity care.

What Is Precious Beginnings Home Care?

Precious Beginnings Home Care Program is an alternative to the traditional length of maternity stay and is designed to ease the transition from hospital to home for both infant and mother.

What Services are offered by our staff?
  • Skilled OB nursing care for both mother and baby.
  • Individual instruction related to mother and baby needs.
  • Assistance with feeding (lactation consultant).
  • Notification of physician immediately with any significant findings from the mother and baby assessment.
  • Laboratory services.
  • Assisting the family in helping the infant adjust to the home environment.

Our Staff Makes Us Unique!

What makes our Home Care Program so unique? We send specially trained OB nurses to your home. She may be the same nurse who taught your childbirth, breastfeeding or child care class. She may also be the nurse that took care of you and your infant during your stay on the Mother/Baby Unit or took care of your infant in the Special Care Nursery.

We have sixteen skilled nurses who all have at least two years of experience in the OB department. We are the only hospital in Dayton with a Home Care Program that uses its own OB nurses. And we have several certified lactation consultants on staff who can help with home care visits.

How You Can Obtain A Precious Beginnings Home Care Visit!

While you are in the hospital, a Precious Beginnings Home Care representative will give you an opportunity to ask questions. Upon your consent a Precious Beginnings Home Care visit may be scheduled.

We now have a grant through the Ohio Department of Health, which enables Precious Beginnings Home Care to do a visit for mothers who reside in Montgomery County.

Your insurance provider will be contacted with your eligibility regarding the Precious Beginnings Home Care Program.

Precious Beginnings Home Care History

In order to meet the needs of our expectant families, Precious Beginnings Home Care was created.

After intensive research including a community assessment, state-wide and national networking and workshop participation, Kettering Medical Center developed a customer-focused, cost-effective unit based obstetrical home care program dedicated to providing quality nursing care.

Since its inception in March of 1994, the program has grown in scope and numbers. We have had positive reviews during our state maternity licensure visits and our JCAHO visits as well as continued customer satisfaction feedback.

Our program has expanded to include follow-up visits for our Level II Special Care Nursery infants. High levels of satisfaction from our physicians and families have been achieved as well as reducing length of stay when we have been able to facilitate this transition home by including this program.
