Ulcers... A Sign of Trouble
When most people think of ulcers, they think of stomach ulcers. But you can get ulcers
-- inflamed breaks or defects in your skin or mucous membranes -- anywhere on your body.
Even on your legs and feet.
Any sore on your leg that won't heal may indicate a circulatory problem that can lead to
serious complications. "Ischemia," for example, is a condition characterized by a
localized lack of blood. The blood does not circulate as it should in the lower
extremities, making it very difficult for wounds to heal. Eventually, entire areas of
muscle and skin begin to die. If this continues unchecked, amputation may be required.
The Center... A Sign of Hope and Healing
By combining more accurate diagnostic methods with a broader menu of treatment, The
Center's expert physicians have the ability to treat circulatory ailments involving
ulcers much more effectively than even five years ago. Many of the patients we see today
would have been candidates for amputation not so long ago... and may still be without the
specialized care available at The Center for Circulatory Disorders and Wound Treatment.
No one in this part of the country knows more about the causes and cures of leg sores or
ulcers. And no one has more ways to deal with them -- from conservative therapy to
state-of-the-art surgery. If you have a history of poor circulation and suffer from
wounds that take an unusually long time to heal, call The Center for Circulatory
Disorders and Wound Treatment for more details at (937) 723-3985.
